In particular, it defines objects for managing devices and interfaces that conform to the Ethernet Passive Optical Networks (EPON) standards as defined in [802.3ah]. The document contains a list of management entities based on the registers defined in the [802.3ah] Annex 30A and mainly partitioned accordingly. Different MIME-compliant mail readers exhibit different behavior, especially when dealing with "multipart" MIME messages (i.e. documents which have been split up into multiple messages), so check your local documentation on how to manipulate these messages. To decode the response(s), you will need "munpack" or a MIME-compliant mail reader. Different MIME-compliant mail readers exhibit different behavior, especially when dealing with "multipart" MIME messages (i.e. documents which have been split up into multiple messages), so check your local documentation on how to manipulate these messages. Below is the data which will enable a MIME compliant mail reader implementation to automatically retrieve the ASCII version of the Internet-Draft. --NextPart Content-Type: Multipart/Alternative; Boundary="OtherAccess" --OtherAccess Content-Type: Message/External-body; access-type="mail-server"; server="mailserv@ietf.org" Content-Type: text/plain Content-ID: <2004-1-9164446.I-D@ietf.org> ENCODING mime FILE /internet-drafts/draft-ietf-hubmib-efm-epon-mib-00.txt --OtherAccess Content-Type: Message/External-body; name="draft-ietf-hubmib-efm-epon-mib-00.txt"; site="ftp.ietf.org"; access-type="anon-ftp"; directory="internet-drafts" Content-Type: text/plain Content-ID: <2004-1-9164446.I-D@ietf.org> --OtherAccess-- --NextPart-- _______________________________________________ Hubmib mailing list Hubmib@ietf.org https://www1.ietf.org/mailman/listinfo/hubmib From hubmib-admin@ietf.org Tue Jan 13 19:01:29 2004 Received: from optimus.ietf.org ([132.151.1.19]) by ietf.org (8.9.1a/8.9.1a) with ESMTP id TAA23870 for ; Tue, 13 Jan 2004 19:01:29 -0500 (EST) Received: from localhost.localdomain ([127.0.0.1] helo=www1.ietf.org) by optimus.ietf.org with esmtp (Exim 4.20) id 1AgYT0-0003Kk-On; Tue, 13 Jan 2004 19:01:02 -0500 Received: from odin.ietf.org ([132.151.1.176] helo=ietf.org) by optimus.ietf.org with esmtp (Exim 4.20) id 1AgYSR-0003JL-Hr for hubmib@optimus.ietf.org; Tue, 13 Jan 2004 19:00:27 -0500 Received: from ietf-mx (ietf-mx.ietf.org [132.151.6.1]) by ietf.org (8.9.1a/8.9.1a) with ESMTP id TAA23826 for ; Tue, 13 Jan 2004 19:00:22 -0500 (EST) Received: from ietf-mx ([132.151.6.1]) by ietf-mx with esmtp (Exim 4.12) id 1AgYSO-0007Ev-00 for hubmib@ietf.org; Tue, 13 Jan 2004 19:00:24 -0500 Received: from exim by ietf-mx with spam-scanned (Exim 4.12) id 1AgYQa-0007Cc-00 for hubmib@ietf.org; Tue, 13 Jan 2004 18:58:32 -0500 Received: from tiere.net.avaya.com ([198.152.12.100]) by ietf-mx with esmtp (Exim 4.12) id 1AgYPJ-0007AP-00 for hubmib@ietf.org; Tue, 13 Jan 2004 18:57:13 -0500 Received: from tiere.net.avaya.com (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by tiere.net.avaya.com (Switch-3.1.2/Switch-3.1.0) with ESMTP id i0DNuR4G016783 for ; Tue, 13 Jan 2004 18:56:27 -0500 (EST) Received: from IS0004AVEXU1.global.avaya.com (h135-64-105-51.avaya.com [135.64.105.51]) by tiere.net.avaya.com (Switch-3.1.2/Switch-3.1.0) with ESMTP id i0DNuP4G016764 for ; Tue, 13 Jan 2004 18:56:26 -0500 (EST) X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft Exchange V6.0.6487.1 content-class: urn:content-classes:message MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/alternative; boundary="----_=_NextPart_001_01C3DA30.F5C610EC" Date: Wed, 14 Jan 2004 01:57:11 +0200 Message-ID: Thread-Topic: EFM MIBs under Experimental Thread-Index: AcPaMPU8Z7/7Yy5mRligAAIiaijWKw== From: "Romascanu, Dan (Dan)" To: X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 2.60 (1.212-2003-09-23-exp) on ietf-mx.ietf.org X-Spam-Status: No, hits=0.5 required=5.0 tests=AWL,HTML_30_40,HTML_MESSAGE autolearn=no version=2.60 Subject: [Hubmib] EFM MIBs under Experimental Sender: hubmib-admin@ietf.org Errors-To: hubmib-admin@ietf.org X-BeenThere: hubmib@ietf.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.0.12 Precedence: bulk List-Unsubscribe: , List-Id: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ------_=_NextPart_001_01C3DA30.F5C610EC Content-Type: text/plain; charset="windows-1255" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable One of the issues that were raised in a MIB design discussion occasioned = by the IEEE meeting was to place temporarily the EFM MIBs under the = experimental root. I think this is a good idea, as long as it is clearly understood that the registration OIDs will be moved under mib-2 once the documents are published as RFCs. In particular, people need to be made aware that the experimental versions of the MIB modules that appear in the Internet-Drafts _will_ be changed and thus are unsuitable for wide-scale deployment in production environments. Please tell in case I'm doing something wrong. I have an issue with the capability bits of the 802.3 MAU MIB which are used for example in ifMauAutoNegCapabilityBits. There are four bits (8 to 11) which are used to describe the Pause capabilities. My questions is: Are all 16 possible combinations of bits 8 to 11 allowed and what is the expected behaviour for each combination? For example what is the meaning when bit 8 and bit 10 are set at the same time? Isn't it enough to set just one of the bits? Thank you very much for your help!
