Subject: Do You Accept Credit Cards?

Do you offer your customers the payment options they
prefer? Accepting credit card purchases can increase
sales by 30 to 50%. And this is true whether you run a
product or service oriented business.

How about offering secure online ordering and checks
by fax, phone and internet (web site and email).

Many new businesses aren't having the success hoped
for or expected. One reason is not properly reading today's
"We want it now" online market. If they cannot get it from
you "now", they'll go elsewhere for it.

Accepting credit cards means more sales, higher profits
and quicker and greated business growth. And it takes
few sales to recoup your expenses.

Until recently, new, small/home, high risk, non-US, non-profit
and Internet businesses were excluded from becoming credit
card merchants. Now, acceptance is almost guaranteed.

I represent a card clearance company that offers credit
card services to all. They have a 98% approval rate.
They charge the lowest rates available. And they provide
an online, pre-application, to see if you qualify, with no
further obligation.

Almost guaranteed acceptance, the lowest rates around
and a no obligation pre-application. It doesn't get better or
easier than this.

I also represent a card clearance company that offers a
PC rental program (no long term commitment). The rates are
a little higher but if you are just starting out, this may be the
best way to go.

Also available is Shopping Cart--secure online credit card
ordering software. Your customers only have to visit your
web site to order. This program is free with your US,
Non-Risk Merchant Account...just $199.00 otherwise.

And now, all businesses can afford to accept checks by fax,
phone and Internet (web site and email). $99.00 for the
software, installation tech support and my 24 hour, 1-800
number ongoing support for all my products and services.

Interested? Send any email to: CCMerchant@mykabot.net or
merchacct@answerme.com for an automated reply. Do not
reply to the "from" address above. It is used for Removes only.

We offer a full line of products and services to help you market
and promote your Internet business or opportunity including all
your direct email marketing needs.

I assume somebody besides me has already noticed this, but the
agentxSubagentTable in the draft mib has columns which should really
be indexed by sessionID, not agentxSAIndex. Or am I missing something.

No, you are not. The most recent MIB draft is somewhat older
than the most recent published version of the protocol spec
(i.e., the one last distributed to the list and in IESG Last
Call at this time).

We have had a volunteer (Smitha Gudur <sgudur@peer.com>, if
I'm not mistaken!) to "guide" the MIB effort. Since both
the MIB and the API are optional WG deliverables--as opposed
to the protocol spec, which is the mandatory deliverable--
we've held off pursuing either of those pending progress
of the protocol spec. It had been held up due to unavoidable
administrative delays beyond our (WG) control, but is now
back on track.

Given that, we can begin work anew on:

	- Getting our charter updated to reflect valid
	  milestones for...

	- implementation and reports (a number of
which are already in the queue!...indications
are that there are at least four and maybe
	  six or more commerical implementations
	  under development at this time)

	- interoperability testing and reporting
(I know that several implementers are
        currently planning for such sessions)

	- protocol spec updates based on the above,
targeted for official inclusion in the
	  PS -> DS RFC stage

	- MIB completion (while optional, virtually
	  a necessity)

	- consideration of an API specification

I guess we can all pick up the pace a bit on the
above matters now.

Cordially,

BobN

...

The description text of agentxSAIndex does say:
A unique, small-integer index for the subagent's session.
                                                            *******

It looks like there need to be two tables where there is currently only
one: one for the connections, and another for the sessions carried over
those connections.

The agentxSATransportType and agentxSATransportAddr are properties of
the connection; the rest of the items seem to be in terms of the session.

Subject: agentxSAIndex
Mime-Version: 1.0
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit

Hi -

The definition of agentxSAIndex has some problems.

| agentxSAIndex OBJECT-TYPE
| SYNTAX Unsigned32
| MAX-ACCESS not-accessible
| STATUS current
| DESCRIPTION
| "A unique, small-integer index for the subagent's session. Note
| that if a subagent's session with the master agent is closed for
| any reason its index will not be re-used, therefore, the values
| of agentxSAIndex may not be contiguous and will not be the same
| for the same subagent across multiple sessions."

1) As David Battle has already brought up, this is really a session ID
   rather than a subagent ID.

2) There is no justification for the constraint that the value of this
index be a "small" integer. This constraint is in direct conflict
with the following sentence about re-use.

3) Never is a long time. In long-running systems, there is a realistic
chance that it will be necessary to re-use a session ID. The current
language stating it "will not be re-used" is too strong.

It seems to me that references to agentxSubgentTable
and agentxSubagentEntry need to be renamed to
agentxSessionTable and agentxSessionEntry.

The description for agentxSAIndex has to be more
pertinent to a subagent session and changes have
to be made for restrictions imposed on
the value of the index and the usage of index.

I think the agentxSubagentTable needs to be split into two tables:
an agentxConnectionTable (with the transport information) and an
agentxSessionTable (as you suggest).

The same argument could be made for

     agentxSubagent OBJECT IDENTIFIER ::= { agentxObjects 2 }

and for

     agentxStats OBJECT IDENTIFIER ::= { agentxObjects 4 }
