DTN Security: a unique environment A DTN is an overlay on top of multiple regional networks, some of which are challenged by limitations such as Intermittent and possibly unpredictable loss of connectivity Long or variable delay Asymmetric data rates High error rates The purpose of the DTN is to support interoperability among these underlying stressed regional networks The stressed environment of the underlying regional network both: Poses challenges to the mechanisms needed to secure the DTN and thereby constrains available solutions Drives the design principle that security mechanisms must be designed to protect the already-limited DTN infrastructure from unauthorized use. |
